In the spring of 2000, Gary Wimann, the new operator of Nig's Bar in Wisconsin Dells, found himself in possession of a Harley Davidson motorcycle with a custom "Nig's Bar" themed paint scheme.
Not being a motorcycle enthusiast, Gary wondered what he was going to do with the motorcycle. It didn't take long to figure out when his father, Walter (Wally), a past member and former chief of the Kilbourn Volunteer Fire Department, suggested that Gary raffle the bike off and give any money made (after the cost of the motorcycle) to the KVFD.
Thus, the Kilbourn Volunteer Fire Department's Harley Raffle was born.
Starting in 2001 and continuing on today, the firemen buy a Harley Davidson Fat Boy motorcycle and raffle it off. The motorcycle is displayed today, as it was back in 2000, at Nig's Bar, thanks to the cooperation of the Connor family -- Terry, Penny and Jim -- the owners and operators of Nig's.
The drawing is always held the Sunday after the Wo-Za-Wha fall festival at 4:00 p.m., during the Green Bay Packer game.
Tickets are available at Nig's Bar or from any of the KVFD members. Tickets can be purchased for $5.00 or 3 for $10.00. Winner need not be present to win.
